Telegram Integration

The Telegram integration lets messages coming to your bot be answered by the HaveAI assistant. You can get started by creating a Telegram bot and saving the connection key to HaveAI.

Before You Start

You need access to a Telegram account and to the management of the bot you will connect. To create a new bot, Telegram's official bot management tool BotFather is used.

1. Create Your Bot

In Telegram, open BotFather and send the /newbot command. Set the requested display name and username. For the username, follow the rules BotFather shows.

When the process is complete, BotFather gives you a bot token. This is the secret access key that lets HaveAI connect to your bot.

If you already have a bot, you do not need to create a new one; you can use your existing bot's token. If the same bot is connected to another automation service, plan the transition so the connections do not interfere with each other.

2. Connect the Bot to HaveAI

1

Open the Telegram section

Open the Telegram section in the HaveAI panel.
2

Paste the token

Paste the token you got from BotFather into the relevant field.
3

Verify

Wait for the verification result and check that the shown bot is correct.
4

Save

Save the connection.

Protect the token like a password

Make sure there is no extra space at the beginning or end of the token. HaveAI saves the token encrypted on the server. Protect the token like a password; whoever knows it can manage the bot.

3. Try the First Conversation

In Telegram, open your bot by its username. Press the Start button or type /start. Then send a short question about your business.

Check that the answer arrives in Telegram and the conversation appears in the Messages section of the HaveAI panel.

In Telegram, the user starts a private conversation. Your bot cannot start a conversation by sending a private message on its own to a user who has not talked to it before.

Bot Name, Description and Command Menu

After connecting the bot, you can edit its display name, description, short description and command menu from the bot settings in the HaveAI panel. For other settings such as the profile image, you can use BotFather.

The command menu shows the user the options they can use within the bot. Adding a command name to the menu does not create a new action for that command. For example, adding a command named "order" does not by itself set up an order-lookup connection.

If No Answer Arrives

  • Check that you sent the message to the correct bot and that the connection is saved in the panel.
  • Make sure the assistant is not paused. If the fixed auto-reply mode is on, the message you prepared may be shown instead of an AI answer.
  • Check the usage limits and whether the conversation has been taken over by an agent.
  • If you renewed the token via BotFather, also save the new token to HaveAI.

If messages go back and forth but the answer content is insufficient, review the information and instructions in the AI Training section.

Removing the Connection

To stop using the bot with HaveAI, use the remove-connection option in the Telegram section. This action does not delete your Telegram account. You can perform management actions related to the bot itself via BotFather.

To follow conversations, use the Messages guide. For bot creation and management options, you can also make use of Telegram's official guide.

Shared Features with the Widget and Information Collection

Your Telegram bot also uses your default HaveAI assistant's business information and instructions. You can follow conversations from the panel, use human handoff and run the appointment process through the conversation for bookable services.

When customer information collection is on, the intake questions are asked in order in the Telegram chat. Option buttons can be used for single-choice questions. A separate web form is not opened as in the widget. You can review the common features and usage differences in the channel comparison.
